There is no single federal program that guarantees a free tablet to every applicant. Depending on eligibility and location, assistance may include provider discounts, community device programs, school support, or a VA-loaned tablet for qualifying Veterans.

An EBT card does not provide a tablet directly. However, receiving SNAP benefits through EBT may help you qualify for Lifeline. Any free or discounted tablet would be a separate provider or local program offer and remains subject to costs, coverage, and availability.

Medicaid participation can be used to establish Lifeline eligibility. Lifeline reduces the cost of qualifying phone or internet service, while tablet offers may come separately from participating providers or community programs. Medicaid itself does not guarantee or distribute a free tablet.

Lifeline provides eligible subscribers with a monthly discount of up to $9.25 toward phone or internet service, or up to $34.25 on qualifying Tribal lands. It does not include a guaranteed tablet, although some participating companies may advertise separate device promotions

No. The Affordable Connectivity Program ended on June 1, 2024, after its funding ran out. It no longer accepts applications or provides internet and connected-device discounts. Websites continuing to advertise ACP tablet benefits may contain outdated or misleading information.
